Most requested

Clear aligners and braces

Nearly invisible removable aligners or traditional braces, planned digitally for precise results. Dr. McFarlane is a pioneer in clear aligner orthodontics and teaches these techniques to orthodontists around the world.

For children

Early treatment

Some growth and bite problems are far easier to correct while the jaw is still developing. An early assessment, recommended by around age seven, can prevent more complex treatment later in life.

Jaw pain relief

TMD treatment

Temporomandibular disorder can cause jaw pain, clicking, headaches, and trouble chewing. Treatment focuses on restoring balance to the bite and easing strain on the joint and muscles.

Therapeutic

Functional Botox

Targeted therapeutic use of botulinum toxin reduces muscle tension from grinding and clenching. It is often used alongside other treatment to relieve chronic jaw and facial muscle pain.

Common questions

Questions patients ask us

Do I need a referral to see Dr. McFarlane?

No. New patients are welcome without a referral from a dentist. You can book directly by calling (760) 688-1531 or emailing orthovicki@gmail.com.

What orthodontic treatments do you offer?

Dr. McFarlane provides clear aligner therapy, traditional braces, early orthodontic treatment for children, treatment for temporomandibular disorder (TMD), and functional Botox therapy for muscle tension, grinding, and clenching.

Do you treat both children and adults?

Yes. The practice treats children, teens, and adults. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by around age seven, and it is never too late for adults to start treatment. Many of Dr. McFarlane's patients are adults treated with clear aligners.

What is the difference between clear aligners and braces?

Clear aligners are removable, nearly invisible trays that move teeth in planned stages. Braces use brackets and wires fixed to the teeth. Both can produce excellent results, and Dr. McFarlane will recommend the option best suited to your case at your consultation.

What is TMD and how is it treated?

Temporomandibular disorder affects the jaw joints and surrounding muscles, and can cause jaw pain, clicking, headaches, and difficulty chewing. Treatment focuses on restoring balance to the bite and reducing muscle strain, and may include orthodontic correction, appliance therapy, or functional Botox depending on the cause.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. New patient consultations with Dr. McFarlane are complimentary. Call (760) 688-1531 or email orthovicki@gmail.com to schedule yours.

Can I request an appointment earlier than the posted hours?

Yes. Scheduling is flexible, and patients are welcome to ask to come in earlier than their appointed time. Call (760) 688-1531 and the team will do their best to accommodate you.
